Benjamin Wetzel is associate professor of history at Taylor University. He is the author of several journal articles and two books. American Crusade: Christianity, Warfare, and National Identity, 1860-1920 was published by Cornell University Press in 2022. His first book, Theodore Roosevelt: Preaching from the Bully Pulpit, was published by Oxford University Press in 2021 and received the Theodore Roosevelt Association Book Award. He earned a B.A. in history from Grove City College, an M.A. in history from Baylor University, and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Notre Dame. He is currently at work on a manuscript tentatively titled Door of Hope: Theodore Roosevelt and the Black Freedom Struggle.
