Public Historian Tours
Theodore Roosevelt traveled the globe and embraced adventure in an era before modern air travel made it effortless to cross continents. He championed the “Strenuous Life,” a philosophy that celebrated hard work, courage, and perseverance as the foundations of personal success and national greatness. In that same adventurous spirit, the Theodore Roosevelt Association proudly offers Public Historian Tours led by TRA Public Historian, Dr. Michael Cullinane. These immersive journeys, formerly known as the "TRA Strenuous Life Adventures", will invite participants to follow in TR's footsteps -- exploring the landscapes, landmarks, and stories that shaped his remarkable life and enduring legacy.
Upcoming 2026 Tour

Next summer, TRA members have an opportunity to experience the South's most important seaport and a place Theodore Roosevelt had a deep attachment to during his lifetime. Over the course of five days and four nights, we will celebrate the naval legacy of Roosevelt as the tall ships of the Sail 250® New Orleans festival dock in New Orleans. Activities occupy the days and in the evenings, we meet as a group to explore our ideas about Roosevelt in discussions led by Dr. Michael Cullinane. Don't miss out on this special TRA trip being held during the US 250th Anniversary celebration!
